Abstract

Objectives: To explore the Project management Professional policy in community pharmacy practice as a new and crucial initiative in Saudi Arabia. Methods: This narrative review of pharmacy Project management Professional policy and procedures in community pharmacy was conducted meticulously. Literature was searched from various databases, including PubMed, Medline and Google Scholar, about specific Project management Professional policies and procedures in pharmacy practice. The search period is from the 1960s until October 2024. The term is in English and includes narrative review, systemic review, Meta-analysis and guidelines. All community pharmacy services are included in a search term. Besides, the national and international guidelines of general project management professionals in hospital practice are also included. The Project Management Professional Committee, a group of various expert members, including community pharmacists, clinical pharmacists and Project Management Professional specialists, played a crucial role in formulating and reviewing the policy draft. Their role involved drafting the guidelines, reviewing and correcting them and making the necessary revisions. The topic emphasizes the community Pharmacy Project management Professional policy and procedures. Results: The community Pharmacy Project management Professional policy and procedures comprised various items. These included the initiation step, planning, execution, monitoring and control and finally, the closure phase. The closure phase, in particular, is significant as it marks the end of the Project and involves activities such as project review, documentation and handover, ensuring that the Project is completed successfully and all necessary information is recorded for future reference. Conclusion: The community pharmacy Project Management Professional policy is a new initiative that promises significant benefits for pharmacy practice. It provides a professional method of establishing new projects within budget and deadline ensures continuous development of pharmacy services without delay and controls costs. This policy is a crucial step towards implementing and transforming any new-era community pharmacy model in Saudi Arabia, offering a bright future for the field. The benefits of this policy extend to improved patient care, enhanced efficiency and better resource management, making it a valuable addition to the pharmacy practice in Saudi Arabia.
