Abstract

Objectives: This research aims to underscore the importance of the Travel Health Services policy in the Community pharmacy practice as a significant new initiative in Saudi Arabia. Methods: This was a comprehensive narrative review of the Community pharmacy policy and procedures of the Travel Health Services system. Extensive literature searches were conducted in PubMed, Medline, and Google Scholar databases, covering specific Travel Health Services and Services policies and procedures in Community pharmacy practice. The search period spanned from the 1960s until October 2021, and the terms used were in English, including narrative review, systemic review, Meta-analysis, and guidelines. All hospital or community pharmacy services were included in the search term, along with national and international guidelines for general travel health services and services in hospital practice. The Community Pharmacy Travel Health Services Committee, comprising various expert members, including clinical pharmacists, drug information pharmacists, and Travel Health Services specialists, formulated the guidelines of the policy draft, which were then reviewed and corrected. The third revision was by the Travel Health Services specialist. The topic emphasizes Community pharmacy Travel Health Services policy and procedures competency. Results: The Community Pharmacy Travel Health Services policy consisted of various items. It had a Travel Health Services committee, a general concept of Travel Health services, the content of the pharmaceutical care Travel Health Services, Travel Health Services planning, implementation, Execution, training and education of Travel Health Services, exercise and testing for Travel Health Services, and passengers coming as tourists health services. Conclusion: The Community Pharmacy Travel Health Services policy is a new initiative for public health preventive measure practice. The Travel Health Services, with its potential to prevent any complications of the current diseases, improve patient adherence to medications, prevent transmitted infectious diseases during traveling, and improve public quality of life, presents a promising solution. Besides, it prevents any economic burden on the healthcare system. Therefore, the Travel Health Services policy and procedures are highly recommended for implementation in the Community pharmacy model in Saudi Arabia, offering a bright future for public health.
