Abstract
Objectives: This research is of paramount importance as it aims to underscore the crucial role of the Risk Management Administration policy in community pharmacy practice, particularly as a new initiative in Saudi Arabia. This is a significant step towards enhancing the safety and quality of healthcare services in our community pharmacies. Methods: This research was conducted through a comprehensive narrative review of pharmacy Risk Management Administration policy and procedures in community pharmacy. We searched databases, including PubMed, Medline and Google Scholar, for specific Risk Management Administration policies and procedures in pharmacy practice. The search period spanned from the 1960s until October 2024 and the term was in English, including narrative review, systemic review, Meta-analysis and guidelines. All community pharmacy services and national and international guidelines of general risk management administration in hospital practice were included in the search term. The Pharmacy Risk Management Administration Committee, consisting of various expert members, including community pharmacists, clinical pharmacists and Risk Management Administration specialists, formulated the guidelines of the policy draft. The draft was reviewed and corrected by one member and then the second member, with the third revision done by the risk management administration specialist. This thorough process emphasizes the importance of the community Pharmacy Risk Management Administration policy and procedures. Results: The community Pharmacy Risk management Administration policy and procedures comprised various items. These included Risk Identifications, Risk Analyses, Risk control steps, Risk management administrations and related KPIs for all project management steps, such as the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control and finally, the closure phase. Conclusion: The community pharmacy Risk Management Administration policy is a new initiative and a potential game-changer in community pharmacy practice. The policy and procedures of Risk Management Administration of community practice is the Administration method of establishing any old or new potential risk within all old or new community pharmacy departments, programs, or projects. It is a continuous process to avoid any probabilities of old and future problems’ availabilities and preventability. It is an excellent tool and service to prevent any likelihood of an unsuccessful and economic burden on the pharmacy management system. Therefore, the community pharmacy policy and procedures of Risk Management Administration are not just recommended but highly anticipated for the new community pharmacy model in Saudi Arabia.
