Abstract

Objectives: This research aims to delve into the on-the-job education and training policy and procedures in community pharmacy practice, a significant new initiative in Saudi Arabia. The findings of this study will provide valuable insights and guidance for the future of pharmacy education and practice in the country. Methods: It was a narrative review of on-the-job education and training policy and procedures in community pharmacy practice. Litterateur searched various databases, including PubMed, Medline and Google Scholar. The search period is from the 1960s until 06 December 2023. The term is in full-text English and includes Case Reports, Classical Articles, Clinical Conferences, Clinical Studies, Clinical Trials, Evaluation Studies, Government Publications, Guidelines, meta-analyses, Observational Studies, Practice Guidelines, Randomized Controlled Trials, Reviews, Systematic Reviews, with Humans subject. All hospital or community pharmacy services are included in a search term. Besides, the national and international guidelines for general infection control in hospital practice are also included. The committee of On Job education and training community pharmacy policy and procedures formulated and consisted of various expert members. That includes clinical pharmacists, community pharmacy specialists and community pharmacy administration experts. The guidelines of the policy draft by one member and the second member were reviewed and corrected. Occupational safety specialists did the third revision. The topic emphasizes the on-the-job education and training of the community pharmacy policy. Results: The pharmacy occupational safety and health Education and Training consisted of various items. That includes program objectives, admission requirements, teaching and education methodology and occupational safety and health education and training steps in pharmacy practice. The on-the-job education and training community pharmacy contained sixteen models. For instance, Point of sale rotation (dispensing), controlled Medication and narcotics, drug information, pharmacy infection control, inventory management and storage and clinical compounding. Medication safety, health insurance, patient and family counseling, medical and Medication devices and disposables, community pharmacy administration, occupational safety and health, Introduction to community clinical pharmacy (MTM). Conclusion: On-the-job education and training in community pharmacy practice is a new initiative for pharmacy career professionals. It will improve community pharmacist skills and encourage all pharmacy staff to continue their postgraduate education for community pharmacy residency in various healthcare organizations. Therefore, on-the-job education and training in community pharmacy policies and procedures are mandated for community pharmacy services and alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 in Saudi Arabia.
